Collect Shipping

Definition

Collect shipping places the freight payment responsibility on the receiver. The shipment moves without the sender paying, and the recipient either pays on delivery or has charges billed to their carrier account.

How Collect Shipping Works

  1. Shipper creates shipment marked “collect”
  2. Carrier picks up goods
  3. Receiver’s account number provided
  4. Freight charges billed to receiver
  5. Receiver pays carrier directly
